Sonic The Hedgehog goes to sea with Ocean Village
- SEGA launches world’s first entertainment village onboard Ocean Village Two -
After a five year absence from the market SEGA Amusements Europe Ltd is re-launching its arcade concept with the exciting introduction of a completely unique amusement arcade onboard Ocean Village Two – the first of its kind to feature onboard a cruise ship. SEGA arcades no longer exist in the UK and Europe so this one of a kind experience will see Sonic the Hedgehog and other favourites making waves around the Med.
SEGA and Ocean Village have joined forces to develop a fully licensed amusement and entertainment arcade at sea with the overall graphics concept designed and created by SEGA. The SEGA Village includes 19 amusement arcade games and a further 6 games will be available in the teen’s area, 'The Attic'. Exhilarating games will include the newly launched After Burner Climax - a simulator featuring modern day fighter jets and Let's Go Jungle - a safari adventure set in a jeep simulator.
SEGA village is also offering kids the chance to become famous for 15 minutes with its ‘Let me Dance’ booth. The booth allows budding stars to become their favourite pop icon and star in their very own music video which is recorded onto CD and can be kept as a memento. Other features in SEGA village include the newly popular card collect games Love and Berry and Dinosaur King.

SEGA has been absent in the operations business and hasn’t put its name to any centres since its most recent franchise expired in 2005, so the launch of Ocean Village Two seemed like the perfect opportunity to create a unique venture. SEGA saw the appeal of Ocean Village Two and it’s family positioning as a good match for its games.”
