Tortola*

Tortola retains a certain sleepy charm despite being the largest and busiest of the British Virgin Islands.

Once a pirate hideaway, these days Tortola is a major yachting centre, attracting sailors drawn by the steady trade winds, spectacular anchorages and great beaches. Take a stroll around picturesque Road Town with its brightly painted wooden and brick buildings, join the joggers for a run round Cane Garden Bay (one of the Caribbean’s most breathtaking beaches) or just enjoy the welcome shade of a nearby banana tree.
